The weather was perfect for the big Aros BBL season XIII final and an almost record crowd of 174.000 fans were packed into the stadium.
Wheras the only who were really suprised to find Stone Curve in the final were Stone Curve, it was a big suprise to find Backstabbers here as well. But the gobos had the luck through the play-offs. Could they pull it off just one more time?
Before the match began no less than four freeboters were hired, and appart from a longbeard it was three famous Stars. Grimm Ironjaw also joined Curve, whereas the more crazy Bomber Driplesnot and chainsaw maniac Nobbla Blackwart joined Stabbers. However the money was not that well given out. Both Grimm and the Longbeard had to stay on the toilet during the first half (along with 2 other dwarfs who went on an off the toilet), the bomber was thrown out after first drive and Nobbla was BH in his only drive. Nevertheless with all nigling players making it to this important match 14 vs 16 players were ready.
The ref had a keen eye on Curve who did no fouling due to this, and one of the Trolls had the idea he would be good at kicking for this match. (It resultet in a touch back the first time he tried though!)
And finally the dwarfes could kick to the gobos and during this first drive, it really seemed like the Gobos luck would take them all the way! Everything they did worked (dice rolls of 6 came up about 2 of 3 times, and if a 1 came up, it was the pro troll who managed to make pro work...) The first that happened was that Brickskull (N)everdodge BH Sossam Wolfguard, then a bomb stunned another, a Gobo blitzed a third down, and dirty player Presgul Powerfist hurt fallen dwarf Juster Armorter so much that even the apotech could not aviod a MA decrease.
The Gobo also managed to get the ball down pitch, and eventhough the dwarfs caught the bombs twice, they exploded in their faces before they could hurl them back. So in turn 3 the path was opened up for a TD by Geiler Lömmel and a 1-0 lead. But then the bomber was thrown off!
In the second drive the dwarfs secured the ball, only to see Fas Firmfoot stunty his way to the ball carrier taking him down in a one dice blitz. But the ball remained in the dwarf cage, and was soon moved down towards the EZ.
However, the dwarfes intention off waiting with the TD for the last turn almost went hawock, when in the gobos last turn the same little St 3 AG 4 gobo Fas Firmfoot did it again, and this time the ball went into the crowd who hurled it into the middle of the pitch. So in order to tie the game in first half, Krim Ironmouth had to manage a short pass before Truid Slugger could catch it for 1-1.
Nevertheless the second half never became very intense, and with Grimm Ironjaw on pitch, the Dwarfes removed Gobos one by one. First Deimos Darkmind was SI but healed by the apo and then the Chainsaw Gobo was BH. And that along with some KOs. However Brickskull (N)everdodge kicked back and became the season most leathal player with his 5th kill - this time on poor Marcus "Drunk'a'lot"... RIP!
But nothing could stop the Dwarfs and in turn 8 Truid Slugger scored for 1-2.
And just when Fas Firmfoot only needed a little help from the trolls to get him within one turn reach, the first troll was to stupid to block and then Brickskull (N)everdodge was no pro enough and fubmled the gobo thus ending the game, giving us all a new Aros Champ: Stone Curve!
