CBM got a rematch already five rounds after losing the final to DR. But although DR has also been damaged since then, it is for nothing compared to the lizards.
With two journeymen they could just field 11, but boots Hemlock to match DR's 12 players. On top of this a chef and a wizard joins the lizzies on the sideline. The chef is good for one then two re-rolls in first and second half respectively.
And DR kicks to CBM. The ball is kept deep in a cage, so instead God takes a hit at the stabber Hemlock, and by use of the team spirit he not only takes the blodger down he also kills him! The stars own apotech cured him but he did not dare show up for the rest of that match. What a waste of money!
God was then taken down and fouled KO. But next turn one of the journeymen was thrown out for trying the same stuff with Saturn, completely in vain.
Before this the cage had moved the wrong way, and Loke manages to blitz his way to ball carrier Bruce Lee. That turned out to be a bad move. Cause the skink then blocked Loke so bad that he broke his skull and will miss next match.
DR keeps getting after the ball carrier and finally in his second attempt Holy Spirit strips the ball from Bruce Lee and Jesus gets at it. He will then hand it to Buddha but the thrower fails the catch.
A blitz on Jesus fails to take him down, and in a desperate attempt to get a chance to score Bruce Lee get the ball, and makes a run for it down pitch. Of course Jesus gets to him and strips him from the ball, then grabs it himself and runs towards the LoS. And when once again it seems impossible to get Jesus down, there is no stopping him from running away and passing to the waiting Vermin Saturn who catches the pass in the EZ for the lead at half time: 0-1.
CBM kicks to DR in 2nd half and Buddha catches the kick by kick-off return. The sun comes out and makes it harder for him to pass. Three runners gets in to scoring position while Jesus stays back with the two throwers.
CBM takes down The Mother but she is not stunned. And then they try to corner God and his cage at the other side. To be more annoying Toad The Wet Sprocket dodges up to God. But he also gets up against Odin B who frenzies the skink in to the crowd where he is killed!
A perfect defence from DR and a failed pick-up from Bruce Lee makes it possible for DR to put all four runners in scoring reach with the ball safe at Holy Spirit. But this is the time for a wizard to step in, and a perfect lightning bolt takes Holy Spirit down.
With diving tackling God standing next to Bruce Lee, tackle saurus Timmy and his Tail has to get at him and he manages to take the runner down. So Bruce Lee do manage to get back after the ball, but when he finally has sprinted all he can the sun blinds him and he makes and inaccurate pass.
Thus Jesus once again comes down and gets the ball and runs safe from the tackler. When instead frenzy Lenny The Dragon manages to dodge free from Buddha, he then tries to break tackle past The Mother in to Jesus, but fails miserably. Then Jesus passes with not problems, in spite of the sun, to Holy Spirit who runs out of reach together with Saturn.
In a fit of anger Timmy and his Tail then kills Odin B. Usually the apo would not heal a line rat, but so late in the game he does so to perfection. But with Jesus in the danger zone the coach is not in for taking chances, trying to score with a Vermin. In stead Holy Spirit makes it 0-3 scoring his 35th TD and reaching 150 spp.
With three turns left and a touch back, and a DR that focuses on keeping the runners safe it is easy for Voodoo King to run a TD in for 1-3, the final result.
The Krox Mr. Joe Fixit received the MVP for CBM whereas dirty player Tyr B received DR's - probably for getting BH in the last drive, when Lickable Little Frog took him down to get Voodoo King free on the LoS. The MVP earned the DP his second skill.
It was a strange match. A Vermin and a Saurus scored two of four TDs and a runner and two skinks made three of the five casualties. But in the end the Champs showed that it was no lucky break when they won the final over CBM last season!
