The Champs opened their defending of the title against last season's bottom team. So in some sense there where a lot of pressure as anything but a win would look ridiculous for DR.
But with more than 600 kgps to induce, for the gobos had something going for them - with 3 bribes, 2 babes, an apo and a wizard. And with 3 KOs from the secret weapons in turn 1 and another to compensate for the killed troll in turn 2.
The troll was taken out in DR's first blitz (block) of the season when strong Vermin Poseidon clawed his way through Grok Wipeknocker's armour. Luckily for the troll the freebooted apo was there to heal him.
But 10 gobos vs. 7 rats and the ball in a cage did not look great for DR. But the casualties just kept coming and after three more in the next four turn it was 7 rats vs. 6 gobos, and now the ball was with God who proceeded to score after the wizards fire ball fussed in the grass near three rats.
From this point on the rats never looked back and with a quick TD before the half they where up 2-0 before receiving for 2nd half.
The gobos did have a surprise up their sleeve when pogo Clad Swine-Raider dodged in to take The Mother down with the ball and grap it himself. But then he fell on the last go for it, and DR regained possession and soon The Mother scored her 2nd TD for 3-0 and learned catch. The gobos did get another hit in, at the new ball carrier but Jesus stood his grounds and killed the would be attacker Squint-eye Skullcracks. The team apo revived him so he will only miss next match.
Then team thrower Buddha who had to face the fact that the completions where done by Jesus and Holy Spirit managed to make the 4th TD and thus he finally became a super star! He learned kick-off return.
In the dying seconds of the match, Holy Spirit blitzed down Frelsh Aircheese with the ball KOing him, thus leaving only the two trolls and a gobo on the pitch. And then he scored for 5-0 in the last turn.
The gobos had one last chance of hitting at the rats, and finally they made a dent, when Wumph Headball SI Balder C but DR's apotech was still awake and healed him to let him play next match.
Amazingly the popularity of DR increased (to FF 17!) as they stole some of the few fans left for the Lunatics.
