In the humid sweltering heat the two rat teams faced off for the season opening match. Last seasons 2nd vs. a new team in Upper-Bracket! So the latter had hired Headsplitter, an apotech, extra training and a babe to even the odds.
DR received and soon the teams own rat ogre Jürgen Klinsmann was fouled KO by dirty player Balder B. The latter continued to foul throughout the match without getting kicked off. No casualties came of this though, but lots of KOs.
The ball was safe with thrower Buddha and when other KOs followed quickly DR was comfortable at keeping the ball caged throughout the half. Headsplitter was not worth his gigantic fee as he was held up by low strength but fending linerat Brage A for almost the entire half. First towards the end of the half when the cage was out of his reach did he manage to get away and blitzed Frej B SI, to match the BH on Dr. X. inflicted earlier by Thor B. The linerat learned fend from that.
Thus in the half's last turn Fallen Madonna scored for 1-0, thus earning her the guard skill.
The babe helped a lot in getting 5 of 6 KOed Stjerneplads players back for the one turn attempt, but then the heat finally gave way for the pouring rain that continued the rest of the match, and this was too much of a problem as a gutter runner failed to catch the pass.
Rat Ogre Jürgen Klinsmann was back to hit on the LoS for 2nd half, but then he was taken down and KOed once more by Balder B in a foul. A quick break by DR gave Jesus the ball after Zeus took down Torpedo II. When Headsplitter failed to take down Jesus the runner blitzed his was free and next turn he scored an easy TD for 2-0.
Jürgen Klinsmann was back again, but a quick snap for Stjernpladsen did not give him any chance to hit before a one turner in the rain had secured Ruddi Völler a TD for 2-1. (He learned block skill that). The TD came after Michael Eskimon had BH Heimdal B.
This opened up for a chance to tie, with still 3 turns left for Stjernpladsen, and Jürgen Klinsmann was looking forward to get some more hits in, but then… A riot stole the rest of the half, save a last turn for DR, and Loke used this to BH Batteri, and Jesus made a show out of completing his 30th pass in spite of the rain!
Of course the dirty player Balder B received the MVP for fouling all through the match. He was finally send out on his last turn foul, thus his action ended the match! And it was not even a stun. Vauxhall Vectra received the other cause he was also expelled for a foul a the end of 1st half, so the crowd loves the fouler. The disturbing rat learned pass block from that.
And that concluded a well played match, where the experience out classed the sheer physical power!
