A tough nut to crack.... a bit too tough it turned out.... We were up against a veteran orc team, with a veteran coach leading them. The fact that the orcs were more skilled at blood bowl than the Undertakers, meant that we had to pick figths we otherwise would have avoided.
To help even out the odds, we had hired a wizard, a bloodwiserbabe, an Igor and had taken some extra team traiing.
The first half started with the orcs grinding down the field with the ball. At first we did actually hold them back for some time, but as the preassure increased, the wizard was brougth into the game. He send a ligthningball down and managed to injure the orc star thrower H. T. Bush, so that he would not play the rest of this match or the next.
After the fall of their QB, Arrg took action and picked up the ball and ran for a TD. Two ghouls tried to stop him, but scince none of them had learned to tackle, he got away and made the only TD of the game.
After the TD the Undertakers had time for a short drive, and actually made their way to the endzone. There one of the ghouls fumbled the ball trying to throw it to Razguhl who was waiting in the endzone. No TD for the Undertakers in first half....
The second half saw the Undertakers slowly driving up the field, and then with a swift change to their rigth wing, made good progress towards the endzone. Bølle Bob and Brutalis Rex assisted by the teams two wights made a screen, that held off most of the orcs. Jean D'Orc and Nullergøj did however manage to catch up with the two ghouls.
The Undertakers coach then decided to stall before scoring, because with the orcs little gobbo Gno sitting in the reserves box, he feared that the orcs would have enough time to score a second TD, and thereby avoiding overtime...
This decision did not seem bad at the time, the two ghouls even held their ground and knocked down Nullergøj. All Forest Gump had to do was dodge away from Jean D'Orc and go into the endzone for a TD..... Needles to say Forest Gump fell on his nose and lost the Undertakers the chance to go into overtime....
Sometime during 2 nd half Brutalis Rex killed the balck orc Nero, but this event drowned in the excitement about the battle for the equalizing TD....
A well played game by the Elf Huggers coach. Hopefully we will meet again and next time the Undertakers will prevail.....
