Although Renegades had expected DR to be their favourite opponent after their successful record against them, the under tipped rats took full advantage of the few elf’s remaining after their clash with Eurobowl Champions. And in the end the waves of luck that had flown from team to team decide to roll DR’s way during the last few minutes deciding the match in their favour.
To begin with the fans wished to see some blood and thus they killed the ref, hoping for even more carnage on the pitch. But it did not result in much, only a single SI elf. But it was with some regret that DR’s coach decided to use the apo in the very first turn when Legoklods BH Madonna but her pass blocking abilities were too important to leave out. As it turned out this was a crucial and correct decision.
The rats took immediate revenge when Tyr fouled Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. SI, but once again an apo was used to save the day.
And then DR was given the first TD as Thorn Of Vengeance, sure feet or not, came crashing down just before he were going to pass. The ball was free and God could hand it to Jesus and 1-0! And the KOed wardancer failed to come back even with a babe handy.
The crowd went wild and made a riot, so the ref set back the time one turn so Renegades received for their only second turn and this time it worked and next turn it was 1-1 by Pete W. But still the KOed wardancer is not awoken by the babe!
A perfect defence by the elves did not make it easy for DR with the ball ending on the line in a TZ. But Jesus manages to get the ball and hand it to Madonna who moves it out of reach. And next turn Jesus gets it back and runs far down pitch while God blocks off the remaining wardancer. But he leaps away and manages to blitz Jesus but to no avail.
At this time only 7 elves are on pitch and instead of dodging to score Jesus dodges to stall and it seems to work. An opportunity arises to get wardancer Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. down ready to foul. With a go for it, however, it will be a 3 dice blitz, but no double 1. Still the ball is fairly safe and so the elves are forced to ignite their wizard who blows Jesus to the ground. Then Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. blitzes his way to the ball, getting it out of two TZ, and runs down pitch with it. But there is not enough elves left to protect him, and Jesus can strip the ball from him with plenty of assist, but no, double both down, RR double skull and Jesus is down and in the dying seconds of the half Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. scores for 1-2 much to the dismay of the rat coach!
And the one turn attempt is perfectly thwarted by a great elf line-up and finally their KOs comes back.
The second half begins disastrous for DR. First block double skull, but the ball is taken back to safety and then a foul by Tyr is spotted by the new ref, but at least it takes Legoklods out SI too.
Next Zeus BHs Middleman but then another double skull is RR and finally Rat Ogre Muhammad attacks the elf journeyman but is taken down with yet another double skull! And the elves kick back as Celemir showoff II BHs Brage A! It is time to tie thinks Jesus and passes the ball with some effort to God but no! He cannot catch, and an almost sure TD slips away! And what is worse now Ingwë manages (also with difficulties) to pass the ball to Pete W and the TD for 1-3 and almost sure victory is in the making until… he falls over the EZ line and the ball ends on the side line.
Almost all other players are close to the LoS, but somehow three rats makes it down there (5 go for its) and one is Jesus who gets the ball with his sure hands and are now partly caged. No one attacks the cage, except fallen Pete W who gets up next to Buddha and he is then BH next turn. And this time Jesus makes the pass without any problem and God catches in a TZ and dodges for the TD 2-2!
With almost half a half left the elves looks good, but only 8 are left. And then the perfect kick to go with the perfect defence (as did the elves in the first half), left the ball in two TZ on the middle line in a wide zone - one of these the annoying God. And when he is blitzed down he chooses to fall on the ball which bounces to Buddha who catches it. He can then be blocked but his sure hands prevent Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. from getting it from him. The elves then tries to cage him, helped by Oldbirch Longleaf who BHs Thor B, but in the end a simple dodge and Buddha can pass to Jesus who keeps the ball safe.
A good move from the elves removes the most serious scoring threats and Jesus decides to bide his time protected by guarding Zeus on the LoS. But a huge mistake this was as Thorn Of Vengeance could reach around those two, and Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. could push it enough to take a one dice, pushing the runner off pitch. But look a DR fan grabs the ball and “passes” it straight towards Loke standing side by side with Muhammad and against Pmg the Picker. And then the lucky bounce and Loke’s small paws grab the bouncing ball! Pmg the Picker makes a futile under powered block and this ends the elves chances!
A 3 dice blitz by Buddha takes the catcher down, and then a simple hand-off by Loke to Madonna and a dodge and she scores for 3-2.
None of the 3 KOed rats comes back, but with 3 in the cas box and one (Joan of Ass) thrown out for fouling a stun the elves can field 7 vs. 10. But a mistake by DR's coach leaves an opening to push the line rat between the side stepping God and the firm standing Muhammad. And suddenly Pmg the Picker is on his way to tie the match, even without any team RR. And now he also only needs the last push to score… But as with Pete W before he also falls trips over the invisible line across the EZ. With his fall also the elves hope of reclaiming the trophy comes crashing down as the match ends 3-2 for the Divine Rats!
The poor catcher Pmg the Picker was afterwards awarded the MVP for his valiant attempt to tie the match, whereas BH and saved catcher Madonna was awarded the MVP for playing the entire match on pain killers and scoring the winning TD!
