Only 10 elf players showed up for the match, but before the start Renegades hired a Mercenary catcher and he proved to be the corner stone in their victory scoring 2 TDs in the first half and the winning TD in 2nd half.
As expected when two speedy teams meet, the teams swaps TDs. And until late in 2nd half the Divine Rats could follow the Renegades. Only setback for DR was that their one turn TD attempt at the end of first half was halted by inept blocking by the two vermin’s who both got a double both down when a simple pushback was all that were needed.
The elfs had received in first half, and went on to score three times, first with Elmir O.T. Golden wood and then with the mercenary catcher twice. Each of their three TDs came quite easily.
DR had a little more trouble, first because a rock KOed Rat Ogre Muhammad in their first receiving drive, and after that a quick snapping runner should not have caught the ball, and then a double, double skull gave a little too much room for the Renegades, but never the less also the second TD came in, but this was the mistake by DR as they were 10 vs. 8 due to 3 KOed elfs, and the time should have been stalled to get a 2-2 at half time.
Yet after the first drive of 2nd half DR made it 3-3 and the 3 TDs were scored in succession by God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. With only one line rat injured (Frej tripped him self in a dodge getting a serious concussion) it was still 11 vs. 11, with almost a full half left so anything could happen.
This did not make the rats give up, but when designated ball carrier for the next drive Jesus was stunned by a rock from the fans, and no runner made it into scoring distance, it became quite difficult, and God fell on his last go for it, to get into safety. And although the bouncing ball was then caught by Jesus he was not safe. So Celemir showoff II managed to take him down, but to the rats luck the ball landed between two DR players.
But hey, that is what you got AG 5 for, and Middleman dodged through TZ into two TZ, picked the ball up, and dodged all the way out going for it to the end and threw a short pass to the mercenary catcher and the winning TD for 5-3 was home. With only 3 turns and 8 players DR hardly had any chance but a great completion by Holy Spirit to Jesus reduced to 5-4 in two turns. (Hence Jesus made DR’s first completion and last TD, and in between this, the Holy trinity: God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, made a TD and a completion each in that order ;) )
However, with only one turn left DR had to be lucky just to get a chance to tie, as they kicked the ball. But still, with great play they managed to retrieve and then pass the ball into the elfs EZ (but sadly no runner could get so far) and from there Jean-Claude Forfanden d.2. fumbled the long bomb attempt that were needed for the elfs to score one last time. Knowing that they probably would fail they took their time to hurt the rats, and in the match last block Oldbirch Longleaf injured Muhammad, but luckily for DR it was only a BH!
Amazingly no player obtained new skill after 9 TD, 10 completions, 6 casualties and the MVPs, but of course the Mercenary catcher took 3 of the Renegades TDs and after the match a disappointed Renegade coach found out that the mercenary was not interested in become a permanent part of the team with his newly won skill. (But their elf journeyman would have loved to… :D )
